Stumbled on Spaced Repetition

I just came across this idea called spaced repetition and it really clicked. Basically, it’s a way to remember things better by reviewing them at just the right time, right before I’m about to forget. That timing seems to be the magic part. Every time I review something at that point, the memory gets stronger and sticks around longer.

Turns out the brain forgets things really fast if I don’t go back to them. There’s even this curve that shows how quickly stuff fades. But if I revisit the info in spaced-out intervals, I can sort of reset that curve and stretch out how long I remember things.

Makes me think of watering a plant. Not too much at once, just a bit when it’s needed. Let it absorb, then water again later. That’s kind of how spaced repetition works with memory.

What’s cool is I don’t have to keep going over everything every day, just the stuff that’s starting to slip. And the better I know something, the less I have to see it. There are apps that already do this, like Anki, but the whole concept feels way more flexible than just flashcards.

Definitely something I want to play with in RemindBlitz. If I can build a system that quietly tracks what someone’s forgetting and gently brings it back in-game, it could make learning feel way more natural. Like the game is helping the player’s brain without them even noticing.

Might try sketching out some early ideas for how to implement this. Could be a really solid mechanic.
